Here's your decision - the 317's will work better if you're looking for boosted 1000+ HP, but the 243's will work better everywhere below that. Something to keep in mind, old school SBC and SBF static and dynamic compression ratios do not apply to LS heads.

One article I read showed a direct head swap with no other changes was worth 24ftlb. The CC in the 862 is 61cc VS the 243's 64cc I believe. My 2007 came with 243 heads stock. the 862's are off the early 4.8-5.3 motors after about 99 I believe. I also believe texas speed used to have the 2.05 valve opton on those heads at one time. I run 2.04 valves on mine. 12-30-2010, 08:54 AM #7.and with this info it seems that the 241s would have slighly larger valves than the 706s so that may help. Casting Number 241.
