Got lucky the other day, finally found an Alaskan .454 Casull at a local gun store. To be even luckier, it was new and only $869! I have the standard Super Redhawk in .454 Casull, but really wanted the Alaskan-although Im not sure the recoil will be much fun!I was surprised that the gun was not as heavy as I imagined. At a little under three pounds, the Alaskan was easy to handle and carry. The Alaskan's stainless steel construction is built extremely well—it better be if you're going to handle the pressure of a .454 Casull. You can tell that the Ruger team spent a little more time on this gun.First 6 rounds of Hornady 454 Casull XTP 300gr gave me a bit of soreness.
