As most of you likely already know, a new system is coming to replace the 6-slot bonuses of Runes in Secrets of the Obscure. Today, we're treated to a little...I would say you can go ahead and keep going. Even if ANet decides to just nerf legendary runes outright by not compensating those of us who have them with this relic split, it still gives you the ability to customize those stats, boon, and condition durations on all of your builds and there's not actually any benefit to not having them.

An simple option/solution- Keep Legendary runes as they are. Add a Legendary Relics slot and allow those that wish to, craft a Legendary Relic that would add an additional 6th slot Bonus. The concept of being able to choose that extra stat is great for customizing but not if people have to grind another thing. It sounds like the relic will have one slot in the equipment tab?
