The faster you string your shots together the better they help. I THINK they stabilize the barrel more than they keep it cool.Introduce A rifle that was a while in the making. Ruger began mass-production of the Mini-14 Ranch rifle in 1974, but this was no simple task. The design project actually began in 1967. The goal was an intention to shrink the revered M-14 7.62 service rifle into a more compact version. One that was to be chambered in .223 Remington.. This goal has certainly been met.Also not too clear on what exactly the center flange is. APPLICATION GUIDE The Accu-strut will generally fit on any series Mini-14 or Mini-30, except for the Target Model which has an extra heavy barrel. Note that some very early Minis have a version of the gas block that does not incorporate a center "flange".

Installed the Mo-Rod strut on my Mini-30 this past week and finally got out to give it a try. My mini-30 is a 581 series without the tapered barrel. I shot Chinese, Russian, Remington and Winchester white box. I used a Tasco 4X shotgun scope and shot all groups at 100 yards. To the OP where your Mini 14 is a older model I would suggest getting a Accu-Strut, True Shot Technology, or Mo-Rod barrel stabilizer. The most reasonable is the True Shot about $60.00. All these struts do the same thing.
