The rifle as very small locking lugs on the barrel and bolt. Nov 1, 2019 · I think your crazy. However, I did nearly the same thing, bought one used at 16. It was a Remington 742 Woodsmaster in 30-06. It was my second rifle and my first serious deer rifle. Aug 29, 2012 · 742's develop headspace problems, I think it is from bolt wear in the locking mechanism. I had one in 30-06 that was handed down to me from my dad.
