Unscrew cable from back of instrument cluster. Angle cable so end of it is pointing up and figure out a way to hold it in this position (it helps to have a clamp). Pour oil into top and let gravity do its work in order to let it all seep down into the cable. Repeat process until "full."

Spray or drip some lubricant (lock graphite lube works well, so does Fluid Film, or WD-40 if you have nothing else) in to the speedo end.Inspect and lube. If no defects slide back in the housing and push it till it engages the speedometer. Then hook a drill to the cable end and run the drill at a slow speed. If the speedometer starts to register then everything is ok with the cable and Speedo. Next place to look is the speedo bullet. It comes out of the trans quite easily.
